[Locked to those who know of his secret life]
I don't even know how long I was out cold.
As I came to, the first thing I remember was seeing a blurry figure. I felt a tap on my cheek and the figure was calling my name. At first, his voice seemed all distorted, like someone slowed down a tape or something.
Finally, my vision cleared and the voice started sounding normal again. It was then that I recognized the figure was actually my friend Morgan.
He asked me if I was all right and I nodded a bit, though I didn't feel that great.
"Did you spike the punch?" I asked him in a groggy voice. (My birthday party was the night before.)
At first he tried to deny it but finally he admitted, "Yes, I did" as he helped me off the floor.
Okay, so I'm majorly hung over. Makes sense. Why else would I feel groggy with a massive headache from hell, right? I thought to myself.
So basically last night, I opened that e-mail from Bryce, started seeing weird pictures, then the booze kicked in at full force and I passed out.
Or maybe when the booze kicked in, that's when I started seeing weird pictures. I dunno. In any case, that's all that happened...I'll just have get through this hangover and everything will be fine.
At least, that's what I tried to tell myself.
I then decided I would take a quick shower. Maybe that would help.
But, while I was in the shower, I was listening to the news on the shower radio and the strangest thing happened. The news was giving a traffic report and suddenly I saw aerial views of the highways flash before my eyes. I had no idea why. Man this hangover is making me delusional... I thought to myself.
Morgan waited for me to get ready and after I did, we walked out to my car. My head was spinning and he was trying to tell me something about an X-Box game he was playing. But my headache was too painful for me to pay attention. I then asked him to drive us to work, cautioning him to "stay off the 5 cuz the cops are in a phased...deployment."
Morgan and I then looked at each other, really confused. He thankfully didn't ask why I said what I said. Instead he replied, "Okay, thanks for the tip, Ponch." and drove us to work.
I think Morgan just chalked up my rambling to the hangover.
I started feeling better as the day went on. I thought maybe I was finally sobering up and all this strangeness would soon be over.
But then as I was speaking at our Nerd Herd team meeting, I glanced over at one of the TVs and there was a news report about this general on the screen. And then it happened again...images flashed before my eyes. This time, after the flash, I knew the general had already landed in Los Angeles.
How was I supposed to know that? The news was talking about preparations being made for his arrival.
Was I going crazy? I had no idea what to think then.
(Of course...eventually I learned why I was remembering things I shouldn't have. And my life hasn't been the same since.)
