TM #265 - What did you dream last night?
Jan. 11th, 2009 06:31 pm August 10, 2019, 3:13 AM
A scream from Libby's room pierced the silence of the safe house. Chuck was immediately awake and he paused only long enough to grab his gun off the top of the nightstand before dashing into Libby's room.
He saw his niece sitting up in her bed, trembling as she clutched the flowered comforter for dear life. Chuck quickly scanned the room, looking for any intruders that had harmed her or were about to do so.
Libby turned, still shaking. Her lip quivered and she softly stammered, "I-I'm s-sorry."
Ellie was now behind Chuck, completely panicked, and fearing the worse. "What happened?!"
Libby bowed her head and Chuck slowly approached her, hiding the gun under the backside of his shirt. "It was a bad dream," she softly said.
Ellie made her way to Libby's bed and sat on the edge of the mattress. She stroked her daughter's hair, giving her a warm smile. Chuck sat down next to Ellie, looking relieved.
"I scared you, didn't I?" Libby asked with a sniffle.
Chuck and Ellie both nodded.
A tear rolled down Libby's cheek. "Can I stay with you tonight, Mommy?"
"Of course," her mother sympathetically replied as she held out her hand. Libby took and it and was lead into her parents' room.
Chuck meanwhile took a moment to once again make sure the area was safe and then went back to his own room.
