Comic-Con (open RP)

ooc: This post is open to everyone. It's complete bendy time too. Feel free to drop by, chat with one another and have fun!

The San Diego convention center was filled with all sorts of exhibits, panels and vendors selling all sorts of collectibles. There seemed to be so much to do and tons of events worth seeing.

"I'm finally here," Chuck commented out loud to no one in particular.

"We are going to the Gene Roddenberry panel; however, we are free for about an hour and a half before the next panel."

[identity profile] sarahwalker.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Sarah smiled at Chuck's impression, "I think that was better than the way it was acted in the movie...can't wait for the panel."

[identity profile] sarahwalker.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Are there always this many people here?"

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Actually, I believe this is a record crowd, like Worldcon."

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah...but c'mon...how hard is it to out act 'Mannequin' Skywalker?" Chuck replies with a grin. "And I'm definitely looking forward to that panel too."

He glances about a bit. "Oh hey...I dunno if you know Jack Shephard but...well, I know you know Hiro already and I came here with both Hiro and Jack. And...maybe I could introduce him to you too."

[identity profile] terry-trouble.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Giggling, Terry moved to walk by his side again, linking her arm through his. "Well, I think I see a Marvel vendor down there? And that's got to be some Star Trek thing on the right. There's also a conference hall down at the end of this one, and I know they have some talks and panels and other good stuff at shindigs like this, right? Seminars on learning Klingon, how to make adamantium claws, Wookie cross-stitching demonstrations..."

[identity profile] magic-fratboy.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Tommy perked a bit at the mention of the Roddenberry panel. "Seriously? I might head over there myself." he replied, blushing a little with a grin as he raised a hand in confession. "Closet Trekkie over here...well, maybe not so closet. I mean, I'm an artist? So I love anything sci-fi. The special effects, the art, it's all completely mindblowing to me."

[identity profile] nickhart.livejournal.com 2008-07-29 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"How t' make what now?" Nick laughed. "Yeah, just what we need. More Wolverines in the world." Looking around, he chuckled. "It's weird, but I think not bein' in outfits makes us stand out more than bein' in them."

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm...well, let's just say I kinda can recite Wrath of Khan word for word," Chuck remarks with a sheepish grin. "I won't go over the top though and bore people with facts or anything and I do know the show was fictional though. So...I guess that makes me a somewhat dedicated but rational Trekkie?"

You're welcome. :)

Chuck gazed wide eyed at the crowd spread out in front of her. She didn't think she'd ever seen so many people in one place, and she'd definitely never seen so many dressed as...well...she wasn't sure what most of them were to be honest.

She searched the crowd, looking for the familiar faces of Chuck and Hiro. Not quite sure what she'd do if she couldn't find them.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
He sees Chuck looking around for a familiar face and excuses himself from his friends for a moment to catch up with her.

"Hi there," he says cheerfully. "Glad you could make it."

Her face lit up when she saw him. "Hey! Well, I said I would come, right? Besides, it beats just sitting around the apartment."

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
He grins. "Besides, there's plenty to see here. So uh...what kinds of fantasy or sci-fi stuff do you like? Maybe we can go to one of the panels you might find interesting. Cuz Hiro and I wanna go see the Gene Roddenberry projects one. And Sarah suggested one of the Star Wars ones and Jack wants to see the Superman one." He pauses for a second, adding, "Sorry a bit of a ramble. But I'll introduce you to everyone."

[identity profile] not-a-savage.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
Jack had been surveying a Star Trek display, trying to quickly familiarize himself with all he could before the panel. He didn't want to be caught asking another embarrassing question.

When he hears his name, he perks and finds Chuck talking with a woman he didn't recognize. "Hi," he says awkwardly, not knowing how to go about this introduction, "I'm that Jack guy Chuck was talking about."

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Jack, this is my girlfriend, Sarah Walker," Chuck replies, glancing a bit at Sarah when he says 'girlfriend.'

Hoping no one notice that awkward glance, Chuck adds quickly to start another conversation, "Jack had been mentioning there was this Superman panel he wanted to see."

"Nice to meet you, Sarah. It's nice to meet you, Chuck's mentioned you quite a few times. All good stuff though, I promise."

At the mention of Superman, Jack shuffles a bit. "Yeah, um, that's Chuck being nice. I feel like I'm in way over my head as it is. I'm the idiot who didn't know Gene Roddenberry."

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
"You'll be fine, Jack," Chuck says, attempting to reassure his friend. "Besides, now you know."

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2008-07-31 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Come with us. We are not 'closet' Trekkies. You are an artist, too? What do you draw?"

OOC: Of course, Hiro comes by it naturally, having Mr. Sulu for a father. :D

[identity profile] distortedcanvas.livejournal.com 2008-07-31 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"You don't think I'd be imposing do you? I'd rather not just butt in and have them all think I'm some kind of asshole."

[identity profile] magic-fratboy.livejournal.com 2008-07-31 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Tommy grinned shyly at Hiro's bright, nodding in agreement. "Okay...yeah, I will, thanks." he replied.

At Hiro's question about his work, he did his best to shrug it off. "Oh, I'm a graphic artist, I work for a design firm in Hollywood. We do work for pretty much everybody...music labels, printing presses, pharmaceutical companies, we even subcontract to some advertising agencies that need a hand with the artistic aspect of a campaign. I sketch a little in my spare time...some portraits, some landscapes."

He paused, another shy smile touching his features. "Though I do like to do some pretty funky magic-themed stuff, too. Just for fun, ya know? Rabbits pulling magicians out of hats and other crazy shit."

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2008-08-01 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
"They could always just say they have enough people. They might be interested in having another viewpoint. If you just sat down with them, they may think you are pushy, but if you ask, they will probably be more reasonable."

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2008-08-01 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
"I was talking to Chuck about getting a graphic arts degree. Animation would be fun. I am not certain I could do original artwork on a computer."

"Have you seen the short before Wall-E? Is that you?"

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-08-01 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Chuck grins and adds, "If you like rabbits pulling magicians out of hats, you'd get a kick out of that short, Tommy."

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2008-08-01 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
"It is very silly!"
