Halloween Party (open RP)

Chuck donned his ren faire ruffled shirt and vest once again. Although he would eventually break into the Sandworm costume, he thought to have something costume-ish on in the meantime.

The courtyard outside Chuck and Ellie's apartment was decorated with Halloween lights and spooky decorations. Music played as costumed guests mingled with one another while a couple were helping themselves to the snacks and punch set up on a table at the edge of the courtyard.

"Oh! I do know Claire a bit. She was out this way a few months ago and I fixed her computer." He extended a hand to the guest. "I'm Chuck, by the way. Nice to meet you."

Lorraine shook his hand, "A pleasure to meet you. I do apologize for just arriving like this, but if I had to spend another minute with lawyers...things would not have gone well at all."

Chuck nodded. "This is true. All in all it was a rather...interesting reunion." He didn't want to say too much more aloud, afraid he might give away something from the mission.

"So uh...can I get you anything? Some punch, maybe?" He then shook his head slightly before adding, " Morgan's not here yet so it hasn't been spiked."

"It's okay. Glad we could....help um, stop something bad from happening?" Chuck really had no idea what else to say to that.

"Um...anyway," Chuck began, trying to recover, "Can I get you anything?"

"I don't think I will stay too long. I'd probably want to be back home for Christmas. Living out of a suitcase for that seems too impersonal."

"Hm, I dunno about that. You have a face that people expect to see glasses on. I'd offer to swap, but these lenses are just plain glass and I'd rather not mess up my eyes with a prescription."

"Where is Morgan? I do not remember seeing him when we got here."

"Oh, definitely you do not want to hurt your eyes. Although my prescription is not as bad as some, if your sight is perfect you do not want to mess it up."

"Big Mike made him stay late tonight but he said he should be here soon."

Chuck nods. "Oh yeah, definitely. Are you going to visit anyone for the holidays or anything?"

"Does it seem like people's bosses are being particularly mean tonight? Did you invite Big Mike?"

"Y'know...I actually didn't invites him. Maybe I should have, huh?"

"I honestly hadn't thought about it. I guess I'll see my mom, but she doesn't live that far away. Do you have Christmas plans?"

"That should be nice. I think we'll just have a small little Christmas with Ellie and Awesome. Though Awesome's folks might drop by. We'll see."

"I do. Though Big Mike wouldn't make it the worst party. Emmett, the new assistant manager, would though."

"You have a new assistant manager? What happened?"

"Big Mike offered me the job but I didn't really want it. So then Lester was the assistant for awhile. He kinda...well, couldn't handle it either so he quit. And then for some reason corporate wanted Big Mike to hire an assistant manager so they sent this Emmett guy to fill that position."

"I remember you telling me that Lester had taken over. What finally made him give it up? I thought he was into the power."

"People weren't listening to him. And then he almost got in major trouble when he started selling things in the store for extremely discounted prices. And then when the week was over he was like over three grand in debt. But he raised the funds through a big time kegger at the Buy More. It took all night to clean the store though."

"Big keggers are usually messy. He managed to make up the money he lost?"

Hiro snorts a bit. "Did he really expect all of you to listen to him? Jeff? Even Jeff probably did not listen to him."

"Somehow he did!"

Chuck grins. "He did, yeah. Jeff didn't mind until Lester tried to take away some of his slacker time. He knows Jeff takes a nap at work and was going to take that privilege, I guess, for lack of a better word, from him."
