TM #321 - Cool

I never was one of the cool kids. Bryce on the other hand? Yeah, he fit that profile. He was the good looking guy who could have any girl he wanted. (And for awhile, I thought one of those girls was Jill, but she finally confessed that was a lie.)

Anyway...

Despite being that cool guy, Bryce did have some geeky interests. He could speak Klingon, he actually liked the old school computer games like Zork, and he knew about Everquest! I thought it was kinda strange a guy like him would be likely to hang around with a guy like me. But we did get along...until that whole accusing me of cheating thing. (Luckily, that matter was settled somehow so I did get to graduate, but I digress...)

So, yeah. Bryce was the cool one.

[Locked to those who know of his secret life.]

He was a real spy too. Maybe he was really training me all those years. Maybe those games of running around the library with suction cup guns was really just a spy training game. And maybe he learned about Zork just to make up the puzzle to protect the Intersect until I opened the file.

Still, despite some of the things he put me through, I miss him now. And now, I get what he was really trying to do - prepare me for this life once he realized I was kinda destined to become part of it. He at first tried to keep me away but then entrusted me with the Intersect. He knew I'd be able to use it and would do the right thing with it. [/locked]

But it would be best not to make them suspicious at all.

If you ever appeared by accident, Casey and Sarah already know about you. Maybe Casey would say there was a glitch with the footage that's missing some frames if anyone asked why you seemed to appear?

I dunno how much of the footage is being kept archived either...

*Hiro raises an eyebrow.* This is the government. They will keep it forever.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, the important stuff, sure. But how much surveillance stuff would they wanna hang on to?

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Until the project closes, I suppose.

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Do you think they will keep your team together for a long time?

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2010-02-24 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
*shakes head* I don't think so. It was mentioned that I should eventually get to the point where I don't need Sarah and Casey anymore.

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2010-02-24 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
I think that will be a sad day.

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2010-02-28 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
I will miss them a great deal. Even Casey. Though I am certain he wants to get back to his original job.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2010-02-28 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
*nods* Probably. But I would definitely miss them both if the General reassigned them. I admit, I'd miss Sarah more, but Casey...I mean, things are perfect between us, but we've made a great teams at times.

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2010-03-01 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
I think Casey likes you, even if he chooses to pretend he does not.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2010-03-03 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Well, he's at least respecting me a bit now...

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2010-03-03 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
That is a good thing. His respect is something very important to him. It is obviously something he does not do easily.

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2010-03-07 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
A man like he cannot, I suppose. If he respected too many people, he would be unable to function after a while.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2010-03-08 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
I guess. I mean...in his line of work, I understand not trusting everyone right away. But...respect? I dunno.

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2010-03-08 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
To give someone your respect is to place them in a higher level in his mind. To see them as someone worthy of better behavior from him. If he allows that too often, he will paralyze himself. It is not the same as respecting someone because they are a higher rank or because it is polite.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2010-03-12 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess. You have to be careful who you trust in this line of work.

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2010-03-13 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
*Hiro nods.* You can never be sure who anyone really is.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2010-03-17 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
At times. Though it's more scary than frustrating...

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Considering the job, I can understand that. When you do not know who to trust, you can never be sure that your back is covered.
