It may be so, but I think I must have left earlier. I almost left them right after he defeated the 90 angry ronin, but then I suddenly decided not to. I wonder if the future me stopped then. It may be that I was meant to be there, but not as long as I stayed.

Yaeko's father, the swordsmith, was forced to build guns for White Beard's army. There were no guns in Japan until modern times, so many guns as had been made, it would have destroyed Japan's history. Kensei turned me over to White Beard because they knew I had the power to stop them. They made me breathe in opium to keep me confused. Fortunately, Yaeko was very clever and escaped her bonds and freed me and her father. I went back to destroy the guns, fought Kensei. I managed to set the gunpowder on fire and begged him to come with me. He refused so I escaped alone. White Beard's camp was destroyed. I found his kabuto in the wreckage. I could not let him destroy Japan, but he was my friend.
