My Tron poster. My Dad bought it for me years ago, when things weren't going so well with him and Mom. I framed it and have had it hung on my wall ever since.

Ellie once said I should take it down, but I'm not going to. I don't care how outdated it is. It has sentimental value and I'm not about to replace it.

But now that Ellie has her own place, I can keep it on my bedroom wall. And that's what I plan on doing.

[Private]

It's more important to me now than it was before. I've been using it to figure out how everyone I've come across on spy missions is connected to the Intersect. I haven't told anyone this, but on the back of the poster is all the information I've collected over the past three years. I don't know if I'll ever have all my questions answered, but maybe some day, I will. [/Private]

The most important thing to me is my family and friends and being a spy is not going to change that.

Christmas Eve was not supposed to be a nightmarish day. It was supposed to be a day spent with loved ones. But last Christmas Eve, Fulcrum denied Chuck his peaceful holiday by holding everyone he cared about hostage.

Of course, Chuck and his handlers didn't know right away this was a Fulcrum agent. For some time, they thought he was just a down on his luck guy who snapped after being let go from his job. That was a nightmare enough. Chuck didn't know if he or those he cared about would make it out alive.

He decided to give Sarah her present early - a charm bracelet that was once his mother's. She thought she didn't deserve such a gift, but Chuck insisted. He gently placed it on her wrist, the charms making a faint jingle as he did so.

In that moment, it seemed like Sarah wasn't just his handler. In that moment, she was his girlfriend.

That moment, sadly, was a fleeting one.

Yeah, I think this has gone around before. But I don't remember if I ever gave my thoughts on how I play Chuck the last time or if I just asked others for feedback.

Oh well, I'll critique myself this time around regardless.

I've played Chuck now for just over two years. When I started playing him, I was worried I wouldn't be able to pull him off. And I really wanted to be able to do him justice since he's a character I enjoy a lot. As time went on, I feel I got a better handle on his voice though of late, I feel I may have lost some of that due to lack of time playing and writing him. (That and he hasn't had any new source material since April.)

Still, I really enjoy playing him. He's fairly canon, save for some other muses knowing his secret. He used to have non-canon verses but mostly, those have faded, save for the future verse which shows up now and then in prompts.

So, how is my driving? Anything I need to work on?

According to his sister, Chuck is at an age where he is too old to have several science fiction movie posters on his bedroom wall.

[Locked to Dad]

Dear Dad,

Thank you for everything you've done (and tried to do) for me. I know you tried to give me a normal life again by taking the Intersect out my head. And I definitely appreciated that.

It's just...with everything that happened after that, I just knew I couldn't just go back to a normal life. I needed to do something to help Sarah and Casey. (I sadly was too late to do anything for Bryce.)

So, that's why I uploaded the new Intersect. I don't exactly know how it works or what it will do, but I think I'll be able to use it for some good. I wish you were here to show me what to do and hope I will see you again someday.

If not, thank you for coming to Ellie's wedding and giving her the special day she always wanted. I don't think she'll ever forget that. And neither will I.

Dad, if you can ever contact me again, please do. But if not, I now understand why you can't, even if Ellie may never know. I'll definitely miss you, wherever you are.

Take care of yourself and thanks again for everything.

Love,

Chuck

There is now an official start date for season 3!

A two night premiere - starting with a 2 hour episode on January 10th at 9/8c.

Here's a preview:
nerdherdchuck: (With Morgan)
My buddy Morgan likes fireworks. In fact, he'll go to Chinatown and find a guy selling them. And when he finds that guy and starts talking to him, it's almost like Morgan is trying to buy drugs or something. I mean, that's how it looks. He's really careful, looking around, making sure he's not being followed and stuff. And then he'll buy them.

Does Morgan really know what he's doing? Um...not really. Somehow though, he's managed to set them off without getting hurt though. (Thankfully.)

[Locked to those who know of his secret life]

One time Morgan bought fireworks and it was a good thing that he did. You see, there were a bunch of bad guys in a Chinese mob that we were after and things weren't looking so good for our little team. So, I set off a bunch of fireworks as a distraction. The mobsters ran out to see what was going on and I slipped in the restaurant and set Casey and Sarah free.

Sure, I was supposed to stay out of sight, but it probably was a good thing I took that risk.

The only bad thing? While I was doing that, Ellie was waiting at home for us to have our Mother’s Day dinner. It’s not on the traditional Mother’s Day. It’s in October and we celebrate the day that we learned to rely on one another after our Mom took off. I of course had to make up a lame excuse about why I wasn’t there.

Despite all that, I guess I can be grateful things sorta ended up working out in the end. Sarah and Casey caught the bad guys after fighting ‘em off once they were free. An upset Ellie finally forgave me and we did end up having our Mother’s Day dinner, just one night later. [/unlocked]

I remember that time when I hid from Jill. Yeah, there I was, Buy More Nerd Herd employee Chuck installing computers at a convention and there was Jill - Doctor Jill - giving some really important presentation. My ex-girlfriend was a total success and I was a total loser.

I felt like such a failure when she found me. I first tried to lie about working at Buy More but that backfired. And eventually I sorta told her that working at the Buy More was my cover.

That's...a sorta lie? I dunno. I do work there and am I a spy of sorts, though I'm not...officially one. So, maybe that was a half lie.

And of course the situation with Jill got more and more complicated, but that's a story that I'm sure you know by now if you're reading this entry.

Star Trek was having its opening night midnight showings and of course, all of us at the Buy More (except for Casey) wanted to see it.

But store manager Emmett had other plans. He wanted us to stay and do inventory that night.

Morgan wasn't at all happy about this. He paced the floor, muttering about how unfair this was.

I came up to him and could tell he was muttering. But I was having trouble understanding him. So I asked, "What's wrong, buddy?"

"What's wrong, Chuck?" Morgan asked in such a way that I knew the answer should be obvious.

It was then that I commented, "I don't want to do inventory either."

"Emmett having us sit around counting boxes the night Star Trek comes out is not cool. This whole situation isn't. Wanna know what this is? It's inhumane, Chuck. That's what this is," he grumbled.

"Yeah, I know. But we can see it tomorrow and-"

"But tonight, Chuck...tonight is the night for the true fans. Hundreds of our kind lined up, many in costumes like it was time for another convention. That's when it's magical, Chuck."

"So what do you propose that we do?" I asked.

"Weasel our ways out of it. If we have to ally with Lester and Jeff to do it, so be it. I will enter into an unholy alliance just to see that movie tonight," vowed Morgan.

I was about to say something when out of the corner of my eye, I saw Casey motion for me to come talk to him. I turned back to Morgan and said, "Well, let me know what you guys come up with. I'll be right back." Then I went over to see what Casey wanted.

[Locked to those who know of his secret life]

It was then that I figured I wasn't seeing Star Trek tonight even if Morgan and Lester figured out a way to get us out of inventory duty. If Casey wanted to talk to me, it most likely meant we had another mission. And if we had another mission, it most likely wouldn't send us anywhere near a movie theater. [/unlocked]

[Private Entry]

For one mission, Sarah and I were in the suburbs posing as a married couple. We knew somewhere in the neighborhood, Fulcrum was running a secret test to create their own Intersect.

So Sarah and I became Mr. and Mrs. Carmichael. There were photos created of Sarah and I together on our wedding day and on vacations together. We even had a dog.

It seemed like the life I wanted to live with her...if it was for real, I mean. If the marriage were real, if the life in the pictures was real...that sort of thing.

Of course, none of it was real. Not just the married life but the whole neighborhood, except for Sarah, Casey and I, was populated by undercover Fulcrum agents!

Sarah and I were captured by some of them and taken to a testing site. There, I was uploaded with their version of the Intersect computer. I was lucky to have survived - no one else had before.

But then, they were going to force Sarah to go through the same test. I knew she couldn't survive so I pretended to be under mind control. Meanwhile, Casey sneaked into the control room while all of the Fulcrum scientists prepped Sarah.

While I pretended to be under mind control, I approached Sarah I said in a monotone sort of voice that I'd like to give a message to her. And then I whispered to her, "Close your eyes."

A second later, Casey activated the computer. The Fulcrum agents didn't survive the test but Sarah did, since I shielded her from the images.

Later, after we returned from our mission, I went to see Sarah at the Orange Orange. After all we had been through, I thought maybe she'd want to go on a real date with me. We had been a pretend but almost real couple and I did just save her life...

I made an attempt to ask her out. "I thought that, you know, maybe we could enjoy a night in the suburbs. Order in, rent a movie...no mission to worry about. Just Mr. and Mrs. Carmichael. Maybe have some fun?"

But Sarah's response was not what I had hoped. "Chuck, we can't go back there. It was just a cover."

I was dejected, but I thought maybe I still had some sort of chance with her. "Yeah, I know that. I just thought-" I began.

Then, I was quickly interrupted by Sarah's reply. "Casey and I have to shut down the operation. Can we talk later?"

"Absolutely," was my response, and I gave her a longing glance before turning away.

Before I could leave, Sarah called out my name. I turned back and she pointed to the wedding band I was wearing for our cover. "I'm going to need that back," she said.

I attempted to being stoic as I handed the wedding band back to her. I doubt that I was able to hide just how crushed I was as I did so.

It was then that I knew that she didn't feel the same way about me as I do about her.
