Comic-Con (open RP)

ooc: This post is open to everyone. It's complete bendy time too. Feel free to drop by, chat with one another and have fun!

The San Diego convention center was filled with all sorts of exhibits, panels and vendors selling all sorts of collectibles. There seemed to be so much to do and tons of events worth seeing.

"I'm finally here," Chuck commented out loud to no one in particular.

"What was?" Jack asks. He'd not followed Hiro as well as he had hoped and obviously missed something.

Chuck looks pleasantly surprised. "That was really cool! Jack, Tommy here just made a copy of the schedule I brought. An-and, I don't me took it to to a photocopier. He just...it looked like he ripped my copy in two but-" He pauses for a moment as he opens his ripped half and then continued, "See? It's a full sized schedule and Tommy has a copy of it too! Isn't that neat?"

Tommy grinned shyly, blushing a little as he shrugged. "Thanks, you guys are real generous, seriously."

Turning to the other two men, Tommy extended his hand. "Tommy Karras, it's good to meet you fellas. I just sorta bumped into Chuck here by accident...are you all buds?"

Jack looks over what Chuck just described to him, trying to take it all in, but it was a bit difficult with him talking so fast. This new person was a magician or something? "Hey, nice to meet you, Tommy," Jack says, taking his hand in a shake, "Yeah, we're all friends here. I'm Jack."

Chuck nods. "Yeah." He then points to each of his friends as he introduces them. "This is Hiro Nakamura and this is Jack Shephard." He then added in. "Oh and my last name is Bartowski, by the way."

"Bartowski, got it." Tommy replied, nodding to Chuck before shaking hands with Hiro and Jack in turn. "Hiro...Jack...it's great to meet you both. As for what these guys were talking about, well...I can show you. If that's all right."

Pausing, Tommy turned to Chuck and handed him his bag. "If you wouldn't mind..."

Taking a few steps back, he shut his eyes and wondered, only briefly, if he was using his powers too gratuitously. It took him only a split second to decide it was fine, especially if the feelings he was reading from Hiro and Chuck were any indication.

Taking a deep breath, Tommy spread his arms and concentrated as he started to lean back, far enough that it looked as if he might fall...

...then continued to ease backwards, his feet leaving the ground, slowly laying backwards until his body was stretched out, suspended in midair in a prone position.

Chuck looks up with an amazed look on his face. His jaw drops and he doesn't know what to say really. So he merely says, "Wow...tha-that's...totally cool!"

Hiro stares. "Sugoi..."

Tommy grinned at their amazement, turning his head to the side to look at them with a smile. The more he did his thing in public, the more he was enjoying those reactions, and not just for the usual reasons. He was starting to wonder if there was a real future for him as a performer...

"G'head and check it out of you want." he offered, making a show of folding his arms under his head casually. "Under, over, side to side...five bucks if you find where I'm hiding the wires." Of course, there were none, so he was safe...but that fact only made the "trick" better.

Chuck looks around Tommy and even puts his hand out slightly to see if he can feel a wire that he couldn't see. After a moment of doing so, he shakes his head. "I couldn't find any at all."

Hiro looks around for the wires. "There are none.." He really sounds amazed. "You have a...talent." There's a significance to how he says the word. He's not sure what it is, but he definitely is displaying skills that may be similar to Hiro's own.

Grinning, Tommy closed his eyes again and concentrated on tilting back up again until his feet were back on the floor and he was vertical once again.

"It's something I've been working on...I guess you could say I'm a magician in training." he explained to Chuck with a broad smile, glancing at Hiro when he mentioned a 'talent' with...an awareness that nagged at him. Nodding to Hiro in agreement, he spread his hands as he accepted his bag back from Chuck. "In a manner of speaking, I guess I do."

"You don't seem like you need training. You definitely have talent!" Chuck replies, quite impressed.

Hiro claps as he lands. "That is wonderful!" He nods significantly to Tommy's nod. He's looking around for an area where they can talk without too many people hanging around.

Blushing at Chuck's praise, Tommy gave him a nod of his head in thanks. "Seriously, you're far too kind." he insisted with a grin. "I'm just starting out, but...y'know, I feel like I kinda got my legs solid under me."

Catching Hiro's look, Tommy raised a curious eyebrow, realizing he was looking for something. At least, that's what it seemed like...

"So, uh...where you guys headed?" he asked after a moment, smiling pleasantly. "I just got in a while ago, so I'm kinda looking to see what I can see before I have to head back to Hollywood tonight. Maybe we can cruise the vendors together or something, talk some more."

"We're headed to the Gene Roddenberry project panel. And later we're gonna see the Superman one," Chuck explains.

"We are going to the Gene Roddenberry panel; however, we are free for about an hour and a half before the next panel."

Tommy perked a bit at the mention of the Roddenberry panel. "Seriously? I might head over there myself." he replied, blushing a little with a grin as he raised a hand in confession. "Closet Trekkie over here...well, maybe not so closet. I mean, I'm an artist? So I love anything sci-fi. The special effects, the art, it's all completely mindblowing to me."

"I'm...well, let's just say I kinda can recite Wrath of Khan word for word," Chuck remarks with a sheepish grin. "I won't go over the top though and bore people with facts or anything and I do know the show was fictional though. So...I guess that makes me a somewhat dedicated but rational Trekkie?"

"Come with us. We are not 'closet' Trekkies. You are an artist, too? What do you draw?"

OOC: Of course, Hiro comes by it naturally, having Mr. Sulu for a father. :D

Tommy grinned shyly at Hiro's bright, nodding in agreement. "Okay...yeah, I will, thanks." he replied.

At Hiro's question about his work, he did his best to shrug it off. "Oh, I'm a graphic artist, I work for a design firm in Hollywood. We do work for pretty much everybody...music labels, printing presses, pharmaceutical companies, we even subcontract to some advertising agencies that need a hand with the artistic aspect of a campaign. I sketch a little in my spare time...some portraits, some landscapes."

He paused, another shy smile touching his features. "Though I do like to do some pretty funky magic-themed stuff, too. Just for fun, ya know? Rabbits pulling magicians out of hats and other crazy shit."

"I was talking to Chuck about getting a graphic arts degree. Animation would be fun. I am not certain I could do original artwork on a computer."

"Have you seen the short before Wall-E? Is that you?"

Chuck grins and adds, "If you like rabbits pulling magicians out of hats, you'd get a kick out of that short, Tommy."

"It is very silly!"

"He did a cool magic trick." He hopes to see more.
