Writer's Block: The Best Invention

[Error: unknown template qotd]

Wow, tough question. I mean...the computer is probably the best all around item ever. You can play games, communicate with people, get your news from all over the world...

And pretty much lock yourself away from civilization for a little while.

Wow, that's quite a reputation then. I mean...giving what you told me about what you used to do it doesn't surprise me he'd want you and all though!

*blinks* That's pretty brave of her to do that during an interview.

[identity profile] only-pepper.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you :)

And it wasn't even during an interview. It was during an awards ceremony that was publicly televised. It really was a ballsy thing to do. I think that's why he told me to hire her.

She did some good work for us though, this summer. She only did an internship and I have no clue if she'll want to come back, but it was worth having her around.

If those companies won't take you at your word and jerk you around, then you probably wouldn't like working there anyways.

Okay...now that was rather, um, ballsy to say the least then.

I'm kinda surprised after that she really wanted to work for the company though and do actual work saying stuff like that. But hey, that's good she actually id her job there.

In a way, you're right. But...I'd love to actually have a career rather than a job someday.

Well what kind of career would you like, Chuck? Let me know and I'll keep an ear open? I do know lots of people....

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I kinda...well, pictured myself doing some sort of software development work.

Probably not a big shock there... *shakes head*

That's really nice of you offering to keep an ear open. Thanks so much. *smiles a bit shyly*

[identity profile] only-pepper.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Software development? Is that something you're good at or something you enjoy or both?

And hey, no problem. I may be leaving my particular field, but it doesn't mean I'm leaving all my contacts behind.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
It's something I wanted to get into. I took courses in college for it but really haven't had a chance to do much programing since then.

Well it's always good to stay in touch, right?

[identity profile] only-pepper.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, at least you know what you want to do. And hopefully you get to do it one day. And stop being a Nerf Herder...

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
*grins* You know a Nerf Herder sounds like I round up foam stuff.

I know what you meant and didn't mean to be too snarky for that. I just tend to make...well kinda dumb jokes now and then - just to warn ya.

[identity profile] only-pepper.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
...you know what, it does. It really does. *laughs* I wonder if that means you could wear a cowboy hat and get away with it..

Oh, and I wasn't offended at all. I worked for Tony Stark. Nothing offends me.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
*in an over the top drawl* Git alon' little Nerf doggies!

*in his regular voice* I can't quite picture me in a cowboy hat though.

Well that's good. I mean, that you weren't offended and stuff. I...uh, take it Tony said a lot of things while you worked for him, huh?

[identity profile] only-pepper.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh that is a priceless image. And anyone can be in a cowboy hat. It's all about confidence. If you think you can do it, so will other people.

Tony said the most ridiculous things ever. He even kissed me at my own wedding. Lovely pictures of that, let me tell you.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-08-14 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
I think maybe if I were in Texas a cowboy hat would be normal. Um...not really anyone here wears one.

*blinks* That...must have been...awkward for the groom.

[identity profile] only-pepper.livejournal.com 2008-08-14 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Really? I seem to remember girls on Venice Beach wearing cowbow hats.

And yes. Very awkward. Considering Tony was Happy's best man. *sigh* Was not pleasant. Thankfully it happened near the end and we made our escape. He did apologize afterwards.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-08-14 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
*shrugs* I haven't seen anyone on the beaches near here wearing one. But maybe up that way, they do.

Okay, that's a double ouch right there. C-can I ask...was he, you know, drunk at the time?

[identity profile] only-pepper.livejournal.com 2008-08-14 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
It's alright to ask.

Yes, he was drunk. That was during his drunk years. When he almost lost the company. It's all public knowledge.

I think that was the point where I really pressured him to get some help. I don't know how well he's doing with it now, but at least he's not letting it interfere anymore.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-08-14 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Well that's good he got help and all. Hopefully he's still staying sober.

[identity profile] only-pepper.livejournal.com 2008-08-14 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
I hope so too. I think it's like any addiction. You have your good days and your bad days.

*smiles*
