TM #243 - Olympics

If you could be in the Olympics (summer or winter), what event/sport would you want to do most? Why?

Could you honestly see me at the Olympics? I can't run that fast, I can't swim that great, and I sure as hell can't flip and stuff. And riding a bobsled or luge sled seems pretty scary. I've been skiing, but not enough to call myself an expert by any means.

So, unless there is a Wii Olympics? I'm not seeing myself there.

(By the way, did you know if you play the Wii Sports training games, you can earn medals? I have earned a couple that way, actually. Those training games are kinda fun though they do get harder as they go along.)

But anyway...

Captain Awesome on the other hand - now he maybe would have some sort of shot at competing. He's in great shape and is always running and stuff. If he tries out and makes it, maybe Ellie and I can go to London in 2012 and see him compete.

The way I see it...if I'm at the Olympics, I'd be watching the games, not competing in them.

It may be a matter of time before video games are part of the Olympics. There's hope for you yet, Wii Man.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, given there's events like BMX and power walking...why not video games? That would be pretty cool actually.

Though I guess there are too many variables like the games themselves, the gaming systems and whatnot...

[identity profile] spazomatik.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't believe BMX is part of the games. I get that they're trying to appeal to young people, but... Scratch that. As long as synchronized swimming is still in, nothing else seems ridiculous.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
*snickers* Yeah, not something I'd watch.

[identity profile] spazomatik.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Did you watch any of the gymnastics, though? Some of those girls... I'm glad most of them are legal.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. And a bit of the rhythmic gymnastics too. There were ladies there that seriously...used their own legs as poles and spun around themselves. I didn't know that was possible!

[identity profile] spazomatik.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
I saw some of that! Oh my god, I really appreciate that kind of flexibility.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
And co-ordination. But I'm a bit of a klutz, so...being able to have some shred of that would be good too.

[identity profile] spazomatik.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
*laughs* Sorry, I just had a rather disturbing mental image of you prancing around with a ribbon on a stick.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Um...yikes. That is kinda disturbing.

I don't...wanna do that. I just mean...like not be so clumsy.

[identity profile] spazomatik.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
*grins* Yeah, I know what you were saying. Are you one of those guys who always manages to find something to trip on?

[identity profile] spazomatik.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, I think girls actually find that kind of endearing.

[identity profile] spazomatik.livejournal.com 2008-08-28 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I do. I had an ex-girlfriend who told me girls like a guy who isn't smooth all the time.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-08-29 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Go fig. I guess...maybe they figure that if a guy is smooth all the time they're phony? *shrugs* No idea.

[identity profile] spazomatik.livejournal.com 2008-08-29 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
It's got to be something that. She was taking a potshot at me at the time.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-09-01 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. Well...then...um, that's wasn't very nice.

[identity profile] spazomatik.livejournal.com 2008-09-02 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I might have deserved it.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
If...you don't mind my asking...what did you do?

[identity profile] spazomatik.livejournal.com 2008-09-04 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't mind. My life's an open book.

I was juggling her along with two other girls. The first time she found out, I talked her into staying with me. The second time she found out, she got miffed when I tried to sweet talk her again and gave me a piece of her mind.

[identity profile] spazomatik.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
*grins* I'd love to say I learned my leasson, but I don't like lying as much as you'd think.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Something tells me this was one reason things between you...um, ended.

[identity profile] spazomatik.livejournal.com 2008-09-07 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, you'd be right about that. Girls like good guys like you. I'm not a long term kind of person.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-09-07 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
I dunno about that really. The nerdy types tend to be avoided by a lot of girls.

[identity profile] spazomatik.livejournal.com 2008-09-07 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
Objectively speaking, you're a good-looking nerd.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-09-07 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, working for the Nerd Herd is kinda a turn off. At least, when Ellie tried to set me up with her female friends it was.

But oh well. Not that that matters anymore. I'm kinda glad I didn't end up with one of them cuz then I might not have met Sarah.

[identity profile] spazomatik.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
There you go. Everything happens for a reason.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
I guess so, yeah.

[identity profile] not-a-savage.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Why shouldn't there be a Wii Olympics? You get exercise after all.

OOC: You did the topic!

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
You do. And it does take skill. I'd personally be for it!

ooc: Yeah. *g*

It was bugging me I had like 130-something words written. So I tried to come up with about 20 more so it counted since I was relatively close. That aside about the Wii Sports helped!

[identity profile] not-a-savage.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
But would spectators want to watch it?

OOC: Because Wii Sports wins!

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
*shrugs* I dunno.

Do people watch Olympic Power Walking?

ooc: I <3 the Wii!

[identity profile] not-a-savage.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I've seen about... five minutes of it?

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. Well...I guess it just depends on the person. I would think video game fans would be at least curious enough to check out Olympic video game competitions.

[identity profile] not-a-savage.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, curiosity only lasts so long. I'd hate to see something with a lot of potential turn into a novelty.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I think depending on how the event is handled, it could be popular or it could just be a novelty.

[identity profile] not-a-savage.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
It would definitely attract a different audience.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Oh definitely. *nods*
