TM #248 - Would you make a good spy? Why or why not?
Um...probably not.
[Locked to those who know of his secret life]
So...after Casey said good-bye to Ilsa, I tried to be nice. I mean, the girl he thought was dead and nearly was killed...was leaving him yet again for points unknown, taking on another mission.
I offered that I'd be his friend and wouldn't go anywhere. (Casey responded by tossing me to the ground.)
And me, being...well, either an idiot or an overly nice guy, I got up, dusted myself off and knocked on Casey's door.
He opened it and greeted me with a glare. "What do you want?" he growled at me.
"So," I began. "I know you're upse-"
"Get lost," Casey growled, beginning to close the door.
I quickly rambled, "All right...fine. But I just thought, you know, you maybe-"
The door slammed shut.
"...needed someone to talk to," I finished, staring at the door. I waited for a moment, wondering if Casey would come back. But the door didn't open, so I turned and started to walk away. As I did, I heard the door open again.
"Fine, get in here," Casey grunted.
I turned back and entered Casey's apartment. He closed the door behind me.
"You don't give up, do you?" he said as he glared at me a bit.
"I just thought-" I began but before I could say anything else, Casey interrupted with, "Can I ask you something?"
I shrugged a bit and replied, "Sure."
"What were you doing when Ilsa and I were talking to each other? Were you trying to spy on us?"
"Me? Well...I...was just happy....for you two. I thought, maybe, you know..."
Casey gave me another glare.
"Okay, maybe a little," I confessed.
"You were doing a lousy job. Even Ilsa commented you weren't much of a spy."
I sighed. "Oh thanks. I try to be nice and...I mean...c'mon. I'm sorry I'm not a kickass field agent. I never got any training or anything and I'm unarmed and-"
Casey laughed. "You with a gun? That would be comical."
I folded my arms.
"Your fighting skills leave a lot to be desired since you have none whatsoever."
"I didn't ask to become The Intersect," I muttered.
"No, you didn't."
"And now I'm going on these missions not really knowing what to do and-" I stopped and then asked, "Think I might get some training someday? I mean...eventually...I should learn how to defend myself...at least a little, right?"
Casey blinked. "I think you're a lost cause for becoming a field agent."
I put my hand on the doorknob. "You know what...if all you're going to do is insult me-"
"You invited yourself over. But you did do one thing right."
"What's that?"
"You were trying to cheer me up, right?"
"Yeah..."
"Well, you asking about being a real spy someday did make me laugh," Casey replied with a smirk.
I frowned and shook my head. Then I left Casey's apartment. [/unlocked]
