TM #204 - Going Insane

Sometimes the appropriate response to reality is to go insane. (Philip K. Dick)

Oh wow! That's one of my favorite authors. I dunno how many times I've read "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep." But, it's a lot. Yeah.

So I was really hoping to have a great response for this topic, and I'm kinda disappointed in myself. 'Cuz the first thing I thought of has to do with how things are at work lately. Yeah, nothing all that deep but...I suppose some folks may see this reaction to reality as crazy/insane.

Um, well here goes...

See, we just got a new assistant manager named Harry Tang. And Harry's kinda on a power trip. So my buddy Morgan had suggested that Harry was like Sauron from "Lord of the Rings" and we, like the two hobbits Frodo and Samwise, should go on a quest to defeat the Dark Lord.

Oh it was to be epic...you know a grand showdown of good and evil. At least, that was how Morgan presented the tale. It was our own way of dealing with reality...our nerdy retelling of current events.

So...how did us two hobbits end up free Middle Earth Buy More from the clutches of Dark Lord Harry Tang? Well, no long trek to Mount Doom was required, really. In fact...well, we didn't have to do much of anything. Oh sure, Morgan seized the 'one remote' from Harry that controlled all the TVs in the store in exchange for not having to deal with customer returns. But what drove the Dark Lord away?

Simple, a manager job in Hawaii.

Anti climatic, I know. But that's just how my life is, I guess. Crazy geekdom...or something. But uh, in case you were wondering? I really wasn't all that disappointed I didn't get to play the role of Frodo.

I mean, I kinda like having all ten fingers.

They do come in handy, don't they?
