ooc: Well this sucks...

A bad winter storm hit the area where I live. My home still is without power (I've been without it since Thursday night) and I am currently at my brother's apartment.

(Unlike my muse, I live in the Northeast and bad winter weather is the norm.)

So, until the power is restored, I won't be able to reply to tags. It may be a couple more days before power is restored since last estimate, nearly half a million folks were without power.

I hate winter. :P

I just read about that online! Do you have enough blankets/warming supplies? It's supposed to be in the single digits and you need to stay warm!

Focus on taking care of you, worry about your tags later! <3<3

Thank you. :) *hugs*

My brother's place does have power, so we do have heat here, thankfully. It's just a bit crowded with the four of us, my parents and I, staying with him. The three of us are without power so, yeah.

Last we heard, it may be a couple more days until the power is back on where we live. I'm not sure if I'll stay here tomorrow night though. It's kinda far from my work and stuff so maybe I'll get a hotel tomorrow night. We'll see.

*hugs* Wow, thats crazy. I hate winter too.

I hope things get better soon.

*hugs back* It totally is. There are tree limbs everywhere.

I hope so too. I hope power comes back to our area come back sooner. My brother's place has power but he's over an hour from where I live.

We'll see. Here's hoping things get better soon.

PEPCO is sending people your way. They said something about Thursday being when they expect the power to be back up. Apparently there are so many broken trees/branches that they're having to plow them out of the way. Shades of '99?

Keep warm and safe.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, there are a tons of them out there. Some areas may not see power until next week even. Thankfully, I have my power back, as you know since I caught you on AIM. :)

Yeah, '99. Though actually...we didn't lose power for days then. This is only the second time in my life (that I remember) that we were without power for more than 1 day. (The other being during Hurricane Bob in 1991 when we lost power for 2 days.)

But thanks for your kind words. I'll be back to tagging tomorrow night for sure.

Oh, good old Bob. Roomie was on the phone (working a temp job) with a guy who was trying to get his information in before the deadline. He told her he was the last person in the building - that it had been evacuated because of Bob.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-12-17 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Oh geez. And she of course couldn't leave until he did, right?

Yeah, I remember that storm well too. Craziness.

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2008-12-17 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, we were safe down here. Bob had already whipped past this area.

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2008-12-17 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
At least that time. The problem is that hurricanes that go up to New England move very fast.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-12-17 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yup, that they do.

Gloria was another one like that. Though that one wasn't nearly as bad for us.

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2008-12-18 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
Roomie's parents had a real mess after Gloria (which had more of an effect here than Bob, but not by much). 9 days with no power and 2 freezers full of food.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-12-19 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh man, that really sucks.

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2008-12-19 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Royally. They were severely displeased.

I saw that on the news! Stay safe! RP can always wait.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
I'm safe and finally have power back. :) Yea! So nice to be home again!

[identity profile] agentmaxwell.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, darling, I hope everything is solved soon! Don't worry about the computer, just concentrate in keeping yourself and your family safe!

*tires to send some of the heat that's melting her city in her friend's way :D*

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
We're all safe and sound and finally have power back. Yea!

What you did must have worked because it was very warm today. 60 degrees Fahrenheit, 15.5 Celsius. :)
