TM #276 - Are you an only child? Write about your siblings or lack thereof.

I have one sibling, my older sister Ellie. I live with her and her fiance Captain Awesome in an apartment in Echo Park.

Ellie and I get a long very well. We look after each other. And...we especially have ever since our parents left us. Ellie sorta took on the duel role of being part sister, part mom. I dunno if I ever really filled the 'man of the house' role, though the fact that Devon actually asked me if it was okay to marry Ellie was pretty special.

I know Ellie wants what's best for me. She often tries to get me to move on with my life. I know she'd like me to kinda...well, leave the Buy More, at least. Maybe move out on my own? Though she definitely doesn't want me to get a place with Morgan. THAT she made perfectly clear.

[Visible to Sarah and Hiro]

But I kinda...I kinda wish Ellie could know what I'm doing. I know she'd worry about me and my role in the spy world. Plus it might put her in danger.

I just hate lying to her. And I don't know what would happen if she ever found out. She was awfully close during the 49B. I mean, if she hadn't turned back to talk to her co-worker, she would have seen me dressed as a doctor and some strange lady dressed as a nurse.

Yeah, like I could explain that one...

I gotta save him.

After we do this, we made need to hide. I don't want Sarah arrested for treason.

*Hiro nods.* I can take you wherever you want to go. Just call. Any time.

That is what friends are for. To help when they can.

*smiles* Definitely.

What about you? Is everything going okay for you?

The announcement to her father and mother could have gone better. Her mother was very happy. Her father...not so much.

Not a lot. The first thing he asked was if she was pregnant.

*face palms*

And when you told him it wouldn't be a shotgun wedding?

He relented...a bit. He thinks she is too young to know her mind.

Well...sometimes people wait until after college and stuff.

He sounds pretty protective of her.

He is. I cannot fault him on that. I think I would be the same as a father.

Yeah, I can't blame him either.

I think most men are that way about their daughters. It comes from knowing how men think because they were just the same at that age.

It's probably that. And the protective parent thing too.

*Hiro nods.* When one becomes a parent, most self-preservation instincts are channeled into protecting your children.

Which is the way it should be. Is rather worried about all the examples of bad parenting he's seen around lately.

Nathan and Peter's parents. They are truly frightening.
