TM #282 - Cremation or burial? Talk about funeral arrangements.

What a depressing idea for a topic. But I guess I'd be buried and have a wake and stuff.

Okay, I'm done talking about this.

I wonder what would happen if I really had to fake my death. It almost happened a couple of times with me nearly being locked in some underground bunker. Obviously, very few people could know what really happened to me. Everyone else would probably be told that I died.

So there would be a fake funeral, I guess. I guess they'd either make up a dummy for my body. Or maybe my death cover story...I dunno what else to call it...would make me die in some sort of explosion so there wouldn't really be a body exactly. Then, well, maybe it would be like a cremation since...well my body kinda would have been burned up.

This is getting very morbid and I'm done talking about this scenario too. [/unlocked]

Me too, Hiro. Things are...going to get interesting though. I dunno what we're going to tell the General, if we will. I guess we kinda have to.

Well...did I tell you about my dad how is connected to the Intersect project?

He is the creator, yes?

Yes. Though he claims he only created 'the really cool parts.'

Anyway...he created a new Intersect. It was supposed to be given to Bryce but...well...in a fight to recover this new Intersect, he was killed.

I was told to destroy it. But this new group of bad guys, and all I know about them is they call themselves 'The Ring,' tried to take it and Casey and Sarah were danger...

So...I ran the program and...it did something to me. Not only was I the Intersect again...it...well, somehow I knew Kung Fu. Like...all of a sudden I could do it but I really couldn't control myself but I was taking down the bad guys.

I dunno if I still know how to do it or if goes away or...I dunno. But it was like I was suddenly a super agent.

He is dead? Bryce?

*Hiro's eyes are big.* You know Kung Fu? Perhaps this new version was made to not only give you information but how to protect it, too.

*nods sadly* Yeah, he is. I'm having trouble believing it too. *sighs*

Maybe? I wonder if it can give me other abilities. Or how long I even can keep the abilities it gives me...

I am sorry to hear that. I know that you and he sometimes were envious of each other, but he certainly did not deserve to die.

Perhaps you can pick up more physical abilities after seeing them used.

Or maybe...maybe like the Intersect will give me abilities based on a situation. Maybe it'll know I need to know how to pick locks for a mission and then I can do that. Or something.

*Really looking at him.* You saw it happen, did you not?

Does this mean you will be a full-time spy now? If you have the Intersect and you can protect it, they may wish to recruit you.

*nods sadly*

I...really don't know. I sorta....I mean before I got this upgrade, I told the General I wanted to go back to my normal life. But now...

Now...I think I gotta tell her what happened. And then be back in the spy game again. On some level, anyways.

I am sorry. That must have been awful. Then having to make such a decision...

I am not certain they would really give you a choice. You are once again the Intersect and you have been programmed to defend it as well. Even if you must go incognito to stay in the game, you know you only have to call or text me if you want to get away from everything.

I wasn't even sure if the upgrade would do anything for me. My father had said he programmed it for Bryce.

You're probably right. I thought...I thought for awhile I'd just want my regular life back, you know? But then it became pretty clear that even if I wasn't the Intersect, my life and the lives of my friends and family still could be in danger. And Sarah and Casey would be assigned to other missions all over the world. I don't want anyone to come after those I care about and not be able to do anything to help them.

And thanks, Hiro. You're always welcome to call me too if things get too crazy.

Perhaps that is why you know all the defense moves. It was made with Bryce in mind. However, you are in good shape and young, so it should not be hard for you to keep it up.

So possibly it is a blessing in disguise? *He shrugs.*

Well...I really didn't know what I was doing, I was just kinda doing it. But maybe that's just it...I was in good enough shape to keep up with the Intersect's...uh...commands? I dunno what else to call it.

I am not certain I would like to call it "commands". It makes it sound like you are a slave to it. Maybe "instructions"? Then you can think of it as Yoda in your head. *He laughs* We can code-name it "Yoda" so that if anyone overhears us, they will think we are talking about "Star Wars"!

In a way, I kinda felt like a puppet when the program went off. I wasn't sure what I was doing but was kinda dragged around.

That's a good idea. They should know about our code phrases. *nods* Then they will know when they need to take action by something we say.

Well, perhaps, not all of them. Just the ones dealing with Yoda and things like that.

No, it's not. I guess we'll just have to find out what exactly this new program does...

Right. Though we don't need as many code words to just talk to each other now that Sarah and Casey know that you know about the Intersect and about them protecting me. Still, it's nice to have a couple of code words of our own.

I do not know any way to test this. I would hardly attack you and we do not know the other things it will do. And walking around Los Angeles hoping you flash on someone is not exactly productive.

The only think I can think of is talking to my father. Maybe he knows what makes this part of the Intersect work.

Did he not create it? He should know what has been programmed into it.
