Yeah. There was a famous writer named Washington Irving. He wrote 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.'

Oh, I always assumed the textbooks wrote the name in Japanese style. That his name was Irving Washington.

Nope, it's actually the other way around.

But yeah...'Washington' is usually a last name.

Who would name their child after a city?

Actually, I think read somewhere he was named after George Washington.

Would they have not named him George Washington Irving?

I dunno why they didn't name him that.

Names can be strange. Unless you have a name like Kennichi.

Well, your father's name is Ken and your name is Kennichi. Something like Jr. in America. You are named after your father.
