Halloween Party (open RP)

Chuck donned his ren faire ruffled shirt and vest once again. Although he would eventually break into the Sandworm costume, he thought to have something costume-ish on in the meantime.

The courtyard outside Chuck and Ellie's apartment was decorated with Halloween lights and spooky decorations. Music played as costumed guests mingled with one another while a couple were helping themselves to the snacks and punch set up on a table at the edge of the courtyard.

"In the sense that he probably drinks too often. He once said that he goes home from work and is drunk by 8:05. Then he told a story about being kicked out of Bennigan's for drinking too much."

Chuck shook his head. "He doesn't seem like he is. I think he just likes to get drunk."

"There is that." Hiro shrugs. "Some people just like the feeling."

"I can't remember the last time I got drunk on purpose. Usually it is that my friends and coworkers load up my drinks while I am not looking in order to make me very silly On my own, I usually just have a couple of drinks to be sociable. Unless it is a big occasion and everyone is drunk."

"Yeah, me too. I have like a beer once in awhile, but nothing crazy. I guess though something like New Year's where everyone's drunk it's just...kinda the norm of the night to be really drunk."

"Just as long as you are not driving. But then shogatsu is mostly celebrated at the home. By the time midnight rolls around, everyone's exhausted anyway."

"Oh no, I wouldn't drive after drinking like that. As for the tired guests thing...it depends, some sorta drink a little later so they're alert enough to ring in the New Year and then like at 1Am, they're passed out."

Actually, they're all exhausted from the cleaning. On the 30th and 31st, we clean absolutely everything as clean as it can get because we do not do anything until after the 4th, except eat, drink, watch the dawn and go to a temple.

"The only people who work at shogatsu are the mailmen, delivering the cards. Beyond that, nothing else is done."

Hiro nods. "Christmas is just a day people give some presents. You get more presents and usually more money at Shogatsu."

"Wow. Here Christmas is a very big deal. People go crazy the day after Thanksgiving trying to get gifts on sale. I've worked Black Friday...it's nuts."

"That is all of December in Japan. New toys, new electronics. Everywhere goes insane."

"That's December here too. I guess that's why so many new movies and games get released this time of year. That way they're just in time to be given as presents."
