New Year's Eve (open RP)
ooc: This post is open to everyone. Your character can drop by IC, metaly or via bendy time too. Whatever works. :) Feel to play and have fun!
It was a simple party. Snacks, a couple bottles of champagne and sparkling cider were neatly placed on a fold out table decorated with noise makers and party hats.
Guests were gathered in the courtyard just outside of Chuck and Ellie's apartment, chatting with one another.
The Morgan door was temporarily blocked by a small TV broadcasting 'Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve' in anticipation of the countdown to 2009.

Rachel smiled, and shook her head. "It's where I'm from, but both my mom and my brother were out of town. But that's okay. Really I wanted to take the trip to show Mohinder where I grew up. And to pry him away from his work for a few days. He's been badly needing a break."
no subject
"That's too bad they weren't around. But at least you got to take a nice trip down memory lane. Mohinder probably enjoyed the break too. At least...I hope he's not too much of a workaholic to not enjoy the time off."
no subject
"He really did enjoy the break. He kinda had to be convinced not to think about work, at least at first... but he relaxed soon enough. Of course, I'm sure once he's back from India he'll be right back in the lab, working hard again, but at least I got him away for a little while."
no subject
"Oh man. Well, maybe the trip home will still take his mind off things for awhile at least."
Chuck then suddenly remembered his manners and offered, "By the way, can iI get you anything?"
no subject
She nodded, and went on, "Yeah. And I think it'll do him good to see his family and his hometown again. He's been having a hard time. He misses home. I think the trip's going to help him out a lot."
She shook her head. "No, thank you, but it's sweet of you to offer. I'm just fine for now. So... are you expecting a big turnout tonight? Looks like a decent crowd so far."
no subject
He nodded. "Well, hopefully the trip will help him out then and hopefully when he gets back, things will be better for him."
Chuck glanced around the courtyard and then turned back to Rachel. "Not a huge turnout, but maybe a couple more people will be dropping by."
no subject
She smiled, and added, "You know, sometimes the best parties are small ones. You get to actually spend time with people, and catch up."
no subject
"This is true. Plus I'm not a huge party person. I kinda like it when it's just people I know, really. I...get kinda shy with too many strangers around."
no subject
She grinned up at him. "I know exactly what you mean. I'd rather be able to spend quality time with a few people than trying to find people in some big crowd of strangers or whatever. This is nice."
no subject
Chuck nodded. "Yeah at my birthday party back in 2007, my sister Ellie invited a lot of her friends to the party and I didn't know anybody really. I tried to escape from the party with Morgan, actually..."
no subject
Rachel laughed knowingly. "Yeah. I felt like that a lot when I was working in DC, and had to go to fundraisers. I never knew anyone, and always got stuck making uncomfortable small talk with people I didn't know. I hated it. I always wished I could run out, but you never can with those."
no subject
He nodded. "I'm sure you had a few to go to at that job. And...there probably was kinda ll that making a proper impression stuff going on?"
no subject
Rachel laughed and nodded. "Yeah. It was a pain. Looking back now, I should have realized I wasn't, like, at all suited for those kinds of jobs, all that public contact. Not when I'm the kind of person who likes small parties and catching up with a few friends."
no subject
"You seemed happy with the people you directly worked for though. I mean on just that level...but I remember there was some craziness with the press you weren't happy about either..."
no subject
She nods, a slightly sad smile spreading across her lips. "I loved those jobs. I just wasn't cut out for them. The people in Gotham were nice to work for. In DC... I was glad for the opportunity, and the faith they had in me. But I hated the press. If I never have to deal with them again, it's a day too soon."
no subject
Chuck notices Rachel look a bit sad and bites his lip slightly. "I didn't mean to make you feel bad or anything...I just remembered the stories you used to tell me. You did a wonderful job, Rachel and I'm sure they miss you."
no subject
Rachel smiles, and puts a hand on Chuck's arm. "Thank you," she replies. "You didn't make me feel bad, don't worry. I know things are better now, on all fronts. 2009's gonna be a great year."
