Off to New York (rp with
only_pepper)
Chuck could not believe this was happening. Although he had been in contact with Pepper for a couple of weeks about starting his new job, there was something that still seemed surreal about it.
Not too long ago, he felt he was destined to spend the rest of his life behind the Nerd Herd desk. And now, here he was, about to board a private jet to New York.
He physically pinched himself to prove this wasn't all a dream. Right after he did so, he spotted Pepper waiting for him.

Seeing Chuck, however, centered her enough. Smiling, she waved him over. "Hello, darling," she said. "Did security give you a hard time? I hope not, come, the jet's waiting. We're ready to go. Give your things to the man over there, alright?" She spoke quickly, not because they were late, but she needed to have some control over what was happening.
Before too long, they're seated and Pepper pulled out some papers. It was easier to just get this done and over with first. The papers had all the salary, accommodations, benefits, everything. Chuck was going to be very well taken care of.

He definitely was not used to this kind of service. "Thank you, sir," he said politely.
Once Chuck was seated on the plane, Pepper had handed several paper. He looked them over in amazement. The job he left only paid him $11 an hour. "I...wow. Thanks again, Pepper. Really."

She leaned back on her seat, legs crossed. "Now, you'll be given your own place, of course, don't worry about rent. A company car for all work-related things. An expense account. And naturally, benefits. I don't know if you need anything else?"
no subject
"I...can't think of anything else. I mean, I...guess like necessary stuff like food...um, is that what the expense account is for? Dumb question, probably. I just...yeah, never knew a life like this," Chuck rambled a bit sheepishly.

She uncrossed her legs, and put her elbows on her legs. "Welcome to the world of business, Chuck. Appearances are everything. It's important to look your best as well as act your best. You'll do fine."

"Right. I'll probably need a couple more suits. I kinda only own three. And one's white so...yeah, not exactly business attire."
He bought himself the white one at Roan's advice and was given one suit by his father and the other suit was given to him after his Black Widow mission.
"And totally. I'll be on my best behavior at work and be professional and and that and...I...probably will need to stop rambling. I do have a habit of doing that, especially when I'm nervous or excited. And I'm kinda both right now," Chuck rambled.

"It'll take some getting used to, you know. You're going to be in front of some important people on a regular basis. But I have faith in you."
She hadn't thought about his clothing at all though, to be honest. "Yes, business suits are required unfortunately, the whole get up. We'll have to do something about that immediately." Fishing out her phone, she sent off a quick text and got one back almost instantaneously. "Perfect. Saturday morning, you'll have a meeting with Lorne Temples. He's a tailor, has ready made suits, anyways, we'll take care of that problem instantly. I'm only doing all this for you, because I know you don't know New York at all. Once you get a better sense of where you are and what you're doing, I'm sure you won't even need me. After all," she smirked, "you're supposed to be my assistant and not the other way around."

At the mention of money, she simply waved her hand. "Start-up costs. Don't worry about it."

He still felt bashful about the incentives Pepper was giving him. "Wow. Th-thanks!"
ooc: Gah...I guess the notify on this one got lost. Sorry for the delay on this.

He then looked out the window and smiled a bit before turning back to Pepper. "You know...as crazy as this is going to sound...I used to think of an alter ego for myself. He was Charles Carmichael, semi-retired wealthy software engineer planning to buy a yacht to sail in America's Cup or something." He shook his head slightly. "This...just sorta seems like, well how Mr. Carmichael would spend his days. I thought, you know, that kinda life was just a daydream."

"You know Chuck, my family always had money when I was a kid. I mean, my mom ran her own restaurant, five star, very prestigious and we lived in a beautiful gated community, large house. Anyways, I always thought I knew what it was like to be rich. And then I started working for Tony. The man is worth more than 300 billion dollars -- nothing can compare to that lifestyle."
She shrugged and leaned back in her seat, opening a bottle of water and gave him a little smirk. "But if you still want to learn how to sail a yacht, Tony has one. I'm sure you can get lessons."
