New Year's Eve (open RP)

ooc: This post is open to everyone. Your character can drop by IC, metaly or via bendy time too. Whatever works. :) Feel to play and have fun!

It was a simple party. Snacks, a couple bottles of champagne and sparkling cider were neatly placed on a fold out table decorated with noise makers and party hats.

Guests were gathered in the courtyard just outside of Chuck and Ellie's apartment, chatting with one another.

The Morgan door was temporarily blocked by a small TV broadcasting 'Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve' in anticipation of the countdown to 2009.

"We did," Sarah added with a grin, taking another sip of the sparkling cider as she placed her free hand on her hip.

"What about the friends of yours I haven't met yet? I'd be remiss in my duties as girlfriend if I didn't introduce myself to each and every one of them," she teased, nudging his arm with hers.

Chuck chuckled a bit as he was nudged. "True, true. Well, maybe Hiro and Jack will show up and if they do I'll gladly introduce you to them. Jack's just getting back to LA and Hiro...well is technically from Japan but seems to be stateside a lot recently."

Sarah nodded slowly, a contented smile on her lips as she stood there with Chuck.

"This is nice," she added. "To just be able to do something like this without, you know, fear of the world ending." Of course, it didn't mean she wouldn't get called away on a mission, but just to have the opportunity to enjoy this moment was nice.

"Nah, tonight the world won't end. It's not like it's Y2K all over again," Chuck was joking again, but then shook his head, remembering how some of the techie folks he hung around with in college were all geared up for something happening when it became the year 2000.

"So...any resolutions for the New Year?"

[identity profile] agentsarah.livejournal.com 2008-12-31 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"New Year's Resolutions..." Trailing off, her fingers tapped the side of her cup in thought. To stop having feelings for the Intersect would be nice, she thought to herself, but when Chuck turned towards her with a smile, that plan seemed to fly out the window fairly quickly.

"Well, not dying?" It was a bit of a joke, but her eyes carried the more serious undertone. "That would be at the top of the list."

Chuck gave a bit of an uncomfortable smile and softly replied, "Well...that would be a definite plus and on top of my list too. But I guess we don't have complete control over that..."

He looked down for a moment before looking back at Sarah. He attempted a bit of a cheerful smile and put his arm around her. "Hey, it's a New Year, right? Maybe it'll be much better than this past one. We can only hope, right?"

"Well, if I have any say, it's not going to happen," she replied, offering him a reassuring smile.

"And you're right. It's a New Year. We have a whole new opportunity to get things back on the right track."

Chuck smiled back a bit, trying to tell himself not to picture Sarah shooting Mauser. Don't think about that... Don't think about that...

Snapping himself back to the present, Chuck nodded. "I'd certainly like that a lot." Attempting to lighten the mood, he asked, "Any other...resolutions? Cuz now I'm feeling silly about one of mine being to beat the latest 'Call of Duty.'" He then gave a goofy grin.

[identity profile] agentsarah.livejournal.com 2008-12-31 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Let's see." Another pause, in which she tried to think of something that would keep the mood light. There was no reason for them to start talking about something so depressing when the new year was only hours away.

"Well, I'd like for us to be able to go on a date without it ending in gunfire and the restaurant practically exploding," Sarah added.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-12-31 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"And Casey driving through the door," Chuck added. "Another definite plus. Maybe we shouldn't go to any Chinese restaurants Morgan likes. It seems like...I dunno...evil spies share his taste in food."

He then gave a puzzled look. "Why is that?"

[identity profile] agentsarah.livejournal.com 2008-12-31 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm always willing to, you know, have a quiet date in," Sarah said. "Because it seems like we never really have any luck with the actual 'going out' part."

She shrugged, chuckling quietly. "Maybe he has connections he's been keeping from us this whole time."

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-12-31 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"No....we seem to have better luck with the dining in stuff. Maybe next time I can try to make the chicken dish I was going to make for you so we have something different."

He then chuckled, adding, "I should warn you, my Dad taught me how to make that dish and he was no expert cook."

Chuck shook his head, though smiling a bit. "And if Morgan does, Casey will bait him with grape soda until he cracks. Which...knowing Morgan, won't be too long."

[identity profile] agentsarah.livejournal.com 2008-12-31 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm sure it'll taste great," Sarah encouraged, finishing off her sparkling cider with a slow sip.

"Somehow I think Casey would resort to a form of interrogation that wasn't as nice as just offering grape soda, though."

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2008-12-31 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"I hope so," Chuck replied with a shy smile. Noticing Sarah had finished her cider, he offered, "Can I get you any more?"

Chuck shook his head. "Well, when he wanted to learn more about where the marlin was, that's all he did to him. We both know Casey could do far worse. And if Morgan didn't talk, he'd probably learn that too. Luckily, a few growls and some grape soda did the trick, from what he told me, at least."
