TM #386 - Do you have children? If not, do you want them one day?

[Locked to those who know of his secret life.]

I don't have any children now. I do wonder what it would be like to have them someday though. But, the spy life...I've seen what's done to my family. Both my parents were part of it and both of them were not part of the lives for my sister and I for several years.

Because of the spy life, I honestly thought they abandoned us only to find out, that wasn't quite true. Especially my mom. My mom even had to lie to me to keep her cover in tact when we found her.

So what happens if Sarah and I have kids? Would we be able to be with them? Would missions call us away for months or years on end? I don't know. Plus, there's always the risk that they would be in danger. What would we have to pretend to keep covers and keep them safe?

I guess the short answer is 'I don't know.' It's a decision with a lot to think about, that's for sure.

It is. Lester really can't sing.

That does not stop a lot of people.

Oh yes. There are plenty of singers who become popular not because they are good but because they are cute or they have a look that people like.

I guess our music industries aren't all that different.

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2011-05-23 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Not really. Just different styles of music. And they are trying to copy some of new American styles with...differing levels of success.

It's like when they try to remake stuff - like old movies and stuff. They never quite come out the same.

Yes. And the culture that creates things like rap does not exist at home.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2011-05-23 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
And rap has its own sorta subculture to it.

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2011-05-23 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Very much so. Which is why Japanese rap is not...quite the same.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
I'll have to take your word for it. I never heard Japanese rap. I have heard some J-Pop though.

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
The problem is that much of it just tries to sound like American rap, but it does not have the same...bite.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe cuz of the put on attitude?

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm...that didn't quite come out right. I guess what I meant was something more on the lines of missing some of the attitude that's needed for that genre.

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed. The societies are not the same.

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2011-05-27 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
It would be strange to hear Japanese country.

[identity profile] nerdherdchuck.livejournal.com 2011-05-27 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe, though we have some country music that's mixed a little with pop music.

[identity profile] powered-otaku.livejournal.com 2011-05-29 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes. I have heard a great amount of country music of both the new and old schools. This is what happens when lives in Texas for a while.

I'm sure it's played a bit more there than here in California.
